C. Lynwood Smith Jr. is a Senior Judge on the United States District Court for the Northern District of Alabama. Before joining the federal bench in 1996, he served as Circuit Court Judge in Alabama’s 23rd Judicial Circuit and District Court Judge in Madison County.

Smith joined the ADAH Board of Trustees in 2015. His other leadership roles include board or committee service at the Historic Huntsville Foundation, the Huntsville-Madison County Chamber of Commerce, Humana Hospital, the Alabama Archives and History Foundation, and numerous entities of the Alabama State Bar Association and Judicial System.

Smith holds bachelor’s and juris doctorate degrees from the University of Alabama and a master’s degree from Rutgers University.
