  • State and Local Government Records Analyst

    The Alabama Department of Archives and History (ADAH) seeks a motivated, self-directed State and Local Government Records Analyst for the department’s Records Management program. Reporting to the manager of the Records Management Section, the Analyst will support state and local government agencies. The selected candidate will work in person in Montgomery, Alabama, and will assist agencies with managing both paper and electronic records throughout their respective lifecycles; contributing to the development of records retention requirements in accordance with best practices; and promoting ADAH and its programs through presentations, tours, site visits, and other outreach activities. Analysts are expected to demonstrate excellence in research, writing, and editing, as part of a broader communication skill set.

  • Museum Store Associate

    The Alabama Department of Archives & History (ADAH) seeks a full-time enthusiastic, creative, team-oriented associate for its Museum Store, located inside the ADAH. This position is part of a team in the Communications Section in the ADAH’s Administrative Division. At the direction of the ADAH’s communications coordinator, the associate will execute the daily operations of the retail store, including assisting customers, managing store inventory, product merchandising, fulfilling and shipping online orders, and supervising volunteers and student workers staffing the store. The associate will also provide occasional support for programs and special events.

Student Workers

The ADAH hires part-time student workers through contracts with the following local universities and colleges: Alabama State University, Auburn University, AUM, and Troy Montgomery.

Students help with a variety of projects, including greeting visitors, providing school tours, cataloging artifacts, assisting researchers, scanning historical materials, and general administrative tasks.
