The Alabama Repositories Directory was initiated in 2008 by the Alabama Historical Records Advisory Board to facilitate access to Alabama's documentary heritage.

 

The directory was created using funds from the National Historical Publications and Records Commission State and National Archival Partnership Grants program.

 

The directory was expanded in 2009 to encompass historical collections of all kinds using funds from the Institute of Museum and Library Services Connecting to Collections Statewide Grants program.
