Alabama History Institutes
Alabama History Institutes are immersive professional development workshops in history and civics for K-12 public, private, and homeschool educators. Each three-day, in-person workshop will incorporate intensive classroom training, hands-on experiences at local museums, parks, and historic sites. Participants will receive a stipend and professional development credits.
IMPORTANT! The Alabama Department of Archives and History is closely monitoring the COVID-19 pandemic. Every Alabama History Institute workshop will comply with all safety and precautionary measures set forth by the ADAH, public health officials, state mandates, and the host sites. By registering for an AHI workshop, you agree to comply with all requirements listed below. Please note that these requirements are subject to change in advance of your institute. You will be notified by email of any updates as soon as possible.
These are uncertain times and we appreciate your patience and flexibility as circumstances change. Alabama History Institutes and the Alabama Department of Archives and History reserve the right to change the delivery of the workshops from in-person to virtual and/or to cancel the workshops at any time. You will be notified by email as soon as possible about changes that affect your institute.
Registration opens on March 11, 2021. In an effort to reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission, workshop capacity is limited to 20 teachers per workshop. The deadline to register is April 8.
