74. Alabama State Bank Building, 1833
Decatur, Morgan County
The Alabama legislature established a state bank in 1823 and built the Decatur branch in 1833. The failure of the state
banking system in 1843 was a major political scandal. The old state bank building in Decatur serves today
as a museum and archives.
